As promised I’m responding to some of the Wolf Review of vocational education in England for 14-19 year olds in more detail, now I’ve had time to properly read and digest it.
A number of good summaries and critiques have already begun to appear since the publication of the final report last Thursday, and in the next week or two there will be a glut of comprehensive responses from key stakeholders. There's a particularly good post by Conor Ryan and Brian Lightman's response on behalf of ASCL is also worth reading.
Rather than rehashing the report in great detail by providing a detailed listing of its key recommendations and conclusions word-by-word, I have decided to assume a good level or prior working knowledge by readers of its recommendations and will instead offer a brief commentary on what I see as the pros and cons of Professor Wolf’s recommendations.
It is available to read online as a PDF here.
